Oxford Oratory Wedding

The weather was kind for Regina and David’s late Summer marriage. As this was to be an Oxford Oratory Wedding, in the heart of the city, it was the perfect opportunity to capture part of their day taking in the sights and sounds of this beautiful academic city. We had planned to take time out, immediately after the ceremony, to stroll through picturesque narrow streets, green open spaces and take in Oxford University’s historic architecture.

Regina and David were hosting a riverside reception outside the city, at Ye Olde Swan Wedding Barn, Radcot. Our city-centre photo shoot would give plenty of time for guests to travel into Oxfordshire’s countryside for the Wedding Breakfast.

The Ceremony

Church of St Aloysius Gonzaga

The Oxford Oratory Church of St Aloysius Gonzaga (or Oxford Oratory for short) is a sanctuary in the midst of the city. It is the Catholic parish church for the centre of Oxford, founded by the Jesuit Society and completed in 1875. The church was  an important step in the ongoing refoundation of a Roman Catholic presence in Oxford. It housed a notable collection of relics but many of these were destroyed in the 1970s.

In the Oxford Oratory most Masses are celebrated in English, but on Sundays and Holydays, Mass is sung in Latin. The church organ was enlarged between 1998 and 2004 by Matthew Copley and a specification of this organ can be seen on the National Pipe Organ Register.

The building of the Oxford Oratory was designed in a Gothic Revival style. A large amount of the original decoration was painted over in the 1970’s and the alter was moved forward. The building is gradually being restored as a part of an “Oxford Oratory – Reaffirmation & Renewal” campaign.

The Wedding Breakfast

Ye Olde Swan Wedding Barn

Radcot, Oxfordshire

Overlooking the River Thames, Ye Olde Swan Wedding Barn owners are putting the finishing touches to a new facility for staging spectacular celebrations. Continuing the rustic theme of the pub itself, couples can expect something special for their Wedding Breakfast.

Camping and Glamping (in shepherd’s huts!) by the Thames is on offer and wedding guests can indulge in paddle boarding, boating or simply strolling around beautiful countryside.

Thanks so much Steve – the photo’s are fantastic and we love them. Exactly what we wanted. We are so pleased you were part of our day and captured it all in such a candid way.

Regina and Dave

Regina looked amazing on her special day with hair by Tuc Le Rojas, who’s mentor was taught the art of hairstyling by the legendary Vidal Sassoon. Makeup was by Amna.

Have riverside celebrations inspired you? If so, then take a look at Jo and Adam’s Wedding.

Thank you Regina and David for your kind words and choosing me to be part of your memorable day.
