Tudor Gardens and Lily Ponds

Smallfield Place is set in the charming village of Smallfield, just a fifteen minute drive from Gatwick Airport and easily accessible from London and the South East. As you drive through the ornate iron gates and up the driveway, the true beauty of the wisteria-clad manor house won’t fail to impress. The entrance to the manor house is through a stone arch doorway and you walk into a striking oak panelled hall with an imposing inglenook fireplace. Outside, the grounds include an immaculate Tudor knot garden and idyllic lily ponds surround the house. Whatever time of the year you plan to marry, Smallfield Place will offer a variety of picturesque backdrops for your photographer.

Jacobean Manor House

This country house is full of historic connections. The most notable is Anne Boleyn’s stay in the Tudor part of the manor. There are also many special features including an ornate carved oak screen and stained-glass shields installed by Sir Edward Bysshe, who was Garter King of Arms immediately before the English Civil War.

Exclusive and intimate celebrations

A historic house in lovely surroundings, Smallfield Place is ideally suited to intimate and elegant weddings for up to 60 guests. Licensed for weddings, renewal of vows and civil partnerships, it is only available on an exclusive use basis. So, from the moment you arrive, you make it your own! The grounds include an immaculate croquet lawn, courtyard areas and water gardens converted from the remains of the old moat. This means, having Smallfield Place all to yourself for the weekend, your guests will be able to use these brilliant features in the way that best suits your wedding timeline.

Thank you, Jo and Keith, for your kind words. I know you, and your family and friends, enjoyed your celebrations. I certainly did!

Another historic and intimate country house on the border of Surrey and Hampshire is Cain Manor. If you haven’t booked your venue yet, you may find my blog on Louise and Dan’s wedding helpful.
